Cut up to 20% cost for HVAC and refrigeration

Facts About Energy Waste

A heating, cooling, or refrigeration system is sized to achieve the desired space temperature or refrigeration on the coldest and warmest days or level of utilization that may be expected. As such, most heating, cooling, and refrigeration systems are between 1.5 to 2 times larger than what is necessary to maintain space temperature or refrigeration conditions on more moderate days.

The relative over-sizing for a heating system is greatest in the spring and fall and for a cooling system in the early and late summer.

Due to this over-sizing, the burner or compressor continuously cycles on and off to prevent overheating or overcooling of the space. The on/off cycling rate is directly related to the load on the system. The system is not capable of determining that under conditions when demand has greatly lessened that the cycling settings can be effectively altered on a real-time basis to run significantly less to reflect the actual need for cooling, heating, or refrigeration.

The IntelliCon® Solution

In much the same way as 'Outdoor Air Reset Control' improves system efficiency by more closely matching the output of a boiler to the heating demand, the IntelliCon patented technology has the same energy-saving effect without the pitfalls and installation headaches.

The microprocessor based controls continuously monitor the system's load via sensors for heating systems, or by monitoring the compressor's on/off cycle times for cooling/refrigeration systems.

Based on load analysis, a computation is made of the optimum length of time that the off-time cycle can be extended without materially affecting the space or refrigerant conditions. The objective is, when demand requirements have reduced, to keep the burner/compressor in the off cycle for the longest possible period of time beyond when the thermostat might have normally turned the system back on. Once this period of extended off-time has elapsed, the burner/compressor begins to operate again until the set point is reached, at which time, it will shut off and the off-period begins again with the IntelliCon determining the additional time that the burner/compressor can remain off, while maintaining all HVAC and refrigeration requirements.
